The Size of the Forepaugh Show in 1894 Was Not as Large as Usual But The Crowd Left Happy

In this short piece that was printed in the the August 17th, 1894 edition of the "Waterville Mail", the writer discuses the recent Adam Forepaugh Show that came to town (Waterville) on August 11th, 1894. It appears that while the show itself was smaller
in size than previous years, all who attended still got their moneys worth.

Forepaugh's circus, which exhibited in this city Saturday, drew the usual big audience, both afternoon and evening. The circus was not as large as that which has heretofore traveled under Forepaugh's name but the exhibition was considered by most of those who witnessed it as very good. The use of one ring instead of three is a change that pleases the crowd and will probably be adhered to in the future. The menagerie was not so extensive as formerly but the circus proper was of sufficient variety and quality to give those who attended their money's worth of enjoyment. The costumes used by the performers were exceptionally pretty and neat and the great majority of the acts were smoothly and handsomely done.
