Adam Forepaugh had passed away in 1890 and left a lasting legacy. So much so that even in 1902 (and beyond) his namesake was still a valuable draw. Having once been a legitimate competitor to the Barnum & Bailey Circus, even having more animals than them and paying higher wages to major acts, the purchase of his show by James A. Bailey proved to be a somewhat lucrative one at times. In 1894, the Great Forepaugh Show
and Sells Brothers combined two major names into one large show. This combined show had various proprietors though out it's run however in the year 1902, James A. Bailey, Ephraim Sells, Lewis Sells, and Peter Sells maintained the role for that season. The show graced the state of Maine that year for three dates: June 24 in Biddeford, June 25 in Portland and June 26 in Lewiston. The advertised show was huge! Featured on the show was Diavolo. This was a bicycle act so dangerous that it was eventually banned due to it's danger. "Sensation's Limit Reached at Last"...indeed!
